Acceptable Use Policy

What you and your staff may and may not do with MonoAdmin, the rules for handling players' data, and what we do when the rules are broken.

Last updated

MonoAdmin gives server staff real power over other people: it can ban them, watch their game, read what they type and keep records about them. This policy sets the limits. It applies to every customer, every member of a customer’s project and everyone else who uses MonoAdmin, and it is part of the Terms of Service. The owner of a project is responsible for the people on it.

What You Must Not Do

You must not use MonoAdmin to:

  • do anything unlawful, or help anyone else do it;
  • harass, threaten, stalk or dox players or staff, or use bans, reports, notes or logs to target a person for who they are rather than for what they did on your server;
  • collect players’ data for anything other than running your own game server;
  • spy on players outside the game, or use screenshots, streams, logs or identifiers to look into someone’s life beyond your server;
  • store or share child sexual abuse material or any other illegal content, in files, tickets, notes, reports or anywhere else in MonoAdmin;
  • spread malware, or use MonoAdmin to attack, scan or overload any server, network or person;
  • try to break, probe, overload, reverse engineer or get around MonoAdmin, its security, its plan limits or its rate limits, including by using several accounts or projects to avoid a limit;
  • resell or share access to MonoAdmin, or run it for a game server you do not own or run;
  • break the rules of Discord, Tebex, Rockstar Games or Cfx.re (FiveM) while using MonoAdmin.

Players’ Data

You decide what MonoAdmin collects about the people on your server, so these rules are yours to follow:

  • Have a lawful basis. Turn on only the features and Server Logs types you need to run your server and keep it safe, and keep only what you need. Features and log types can be switched off in Settings > Features.
  • Tell your players. MonoAdmin does not tell players in the game what is collected. You must. Say plainly that you record identifiers, IP addresses, positions, chat and commands, and that staff can take screenshots or watch a screen, as far as you use those features. Point them to the players’ section of our Privacy Policy if it helps.
  • No unlawful monitoring. Do not use screenshots, streams, tracking or logs in ways that the law of your players’ countries forbids, and do not collect more than a game server needs.
  • Keep it among staff who need it. Give each role only the permissions it needs, and keep staff accounts safe. Do not copy players’ data out of MonoAdmin to use for other things.
  • Keep your whitelist questions fair. If your whitelist form asks for personal details, ask only for what you need and tell the applicant why.
  • Respect players’ rights. Answer players’ requests about their data. The Data Processing Addendum says how we help.
  • Mind the age of your players. Some players may be young. Follow the rules that apply where you and they are.

Your Staff

The owner is responsible for what the project’s members do. Do not give powers to people you do not trust. Staff must give a reason for each ban, warning and kick, and you should review what your team does in the Audit Logs.

Other People’s Rules

You must follow the terms of the services MonoAdmin works with: Discord’s terms and developer policy (this includes your own bot, if you use one), Tebex’s terms, and the terms of Rockstar Games and Cfx.re for GTA V and FiveM. MonoAdmin is not affiliated with any of them.

Limits and Fair Use

Plans have limits, and the service has rate limits and size limits to keep it working for everyone. Do not try to get around them. If a limit is too small for you, upgrade the plan or write to us.

Reporting a Problem

If you see someone using MonoAdmin against this policy, or you think a server is collecting data it should not, write to hello@monoadmin.net and tell us which server or account and what happened. We read every report. We may not be able to tell you what we did.

What We Do When the Rules Are Broken

We may, depending on how serious it is and whether it is repeated:

  • warn you and ask you to fix it;
  • switch off a feature, or the screen sharing, for a project;
  • suspend a project, which cuts off its use and its game server link;
  • terminate a project, which is deleted 14 days later unless we restore it;
  • suspend, ban or delete an account;
  • ban an email address, a Discord account or a range of network addresses, so it cannot sign up, link a server or connect.

We tell the owner the reason unless the law or someone’s safety stops us. We act without warning when we need to protect people, MonoAdmin or other customers. We may give information to the police or another authority when the law requires it or when someone’s safety is at risk. If you think we got it wrong, write to hello@monoadmin.net; we will look again, but we do not promise to change the outcome.

Changes

We may update this policy. For a material change we post it on this page and email the project owners at least 14 days before it takes effect. The date at the top says when this page was last changed.
