Profile and Sign-In
Set your display name, profile picture, theme and time zone, and change your password, email address or Discord sign-in.
On This Page
Your MonoAdmin account belongs to you, not to a project. One account can own projects and also work as staff in other people’s. Open it from the user menu with Account, which shows a window titled User Settings with five screens: My Profile, Sign-in & Security, Notifications, Sessions and Security Activity.
This page covers the first two. Two-factor sign-in, sessions and Security Activity are on Two-Factor and Sessions. Email and Discord messages are on Notifications.
Creating an Account
Anyone can sign up, and the Starter plan is free. On Create Account you enter a display name, your email and a password. If you were invited to a project, sign up from the invitation link with the exact email address it was sent to.
- Fill in the form and pass the verification check.
- Open the link in the email titled “Confirm your email for MonoAdmin”. It works once and for 24 hours.
- Sign in.
No account exists until you open that link. You can also choose Continue with Discord on the sign-up page. That needs a Discord account with a verified email. If the email already has a MonoAdmin account, Discord sign-up is refused with “An account with that email already exists. Sign in with your password, then link Discord from your account page.”
Sometimes MonoAdmin pauses new accounts or sign-ins. The pages then say so, for example “New accounts are paused right now. Try again later.” or “Signing in is paused right now. Try again later.”
My Profile
Display Name
Your display name is shown to your team in audit logs and reports, and to staff in game. Use 1 to 64 characters. Choose Save Changes and the toast reads “Profile saved”. Your email address is shown below it, read only. Change it under Sign-in & Security.
Profile Picture
Your picture is what your team sees next to your name. Choose Upload Picture and pick a PNG, JPEG or WebP of up to 2 MB, at least 32 pixels wide and tall. MonoAdmin crops it to a square. Replace Picture swaps it and Remove Picture deletes it, after asking “Remove your picture?”.
Without a picture of your own, MonoAdmin falls back in this order and says which one it is using under the picture:
- Your face in game, once you have linked your game account and your character’s face has been captured.
- Your Discord picture, if you signed in with or linked Discord.
- The Discord or Steam picture of the player behind your linked game account.
- Your initial.
Theme and Time Zone
The Theme and Time Zone cards only change what you see. They are explained on Display, Themes and Time Zones.
Sign-in & Security
Password
Password shows whether you sign in with a password. Choose Change Password, enter the new password and confirm. A password must:
- have at least 10 characters (up to 256 bytes);
- use at least 5 different characters;
- not be on a list of common passwords;
- not contain your email address, or the part before the @ when that part has at least four characters.
There are no rules about symbols or capital letters. A short sentence works well. A strength meter and a checklist update as you type.
When you change your password, the panel signs out every other device and ends the links between your game accounts and the in-game menu. This browser stays signed in. MonoAdmin emails you a notice titled “Your MonoAdmin password was changed”.
If you signed up with Discord and have no password, the card offers Set a Password, so you can also sign in with your email.
Forgot it? Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in page. The email link works once, for 1 hour and only for the address it was sent to. It stops working earlier if you secure your account first: changing your password or email, turning two-factor on or off or signing out everywhere all end any reset link already emailed to you. A reset signs you out on every device, this one included, and clears your game account links.
Confirm It’s You
Changes that affect who can get into your account ask you to confirm it is you again, even while you are signed in. The dialog Confirm It’s You asks for your password, plus a code from your authenticator app if two-factor is on. A Discord-only account confirms through Discord instead. A confirmation counts for 10 minutes.
You are asked before you:
- change or set your password, or change your email address;
- set up two-factor, turn it off or create new recovery codes;
- link or unlink Discord;
- create a pairing code or unlink a server, or create a code to link your game account;
- delete a project.
Email Address
The email is where you sign in and where security notices go.
- Under Email Address, choose Change Email.
- Enter the New Email Address and choose Send Code.
- Enter the 6-digit Confirmation Code sent to the new address and choose Confirm New Email.
The code works for 15 minutes, and after 5 wrong tries you need a new one. If the new address already belongs to another account, no code arrives, and the screen looks the same either way. Use a Different Address takes you back a step.
Nothing changes until the code is confirmed. Then your other devices are signed out and your game account links end. MonoAdmin sends a notice to the old address saying your email changed, so a stolen session cannot change it quietly.
Discord
Linking Discord lets you sign in with one click, uses your Discord picture and lets MonoAdmin send you Discord messages. The Discord card appears when Discord sign-in is available.
- Choose Link Discord and confirm it is you.
- Approve the request on Discord. MonoAdmin asks for your Discord identity and email.
- You return to the card, which now says “Linked to {name}. You can sign in with Discord.”
The rules:
- You link from this screen, while signed in. MonoAdmin never attaches a Discord account to an existing account only because the emails match.
- A Discord account can be linked to one MonoAdmin account. Otherwise you see “That Discord account is already linked to another MonoAdmin account.”
- To unlink, you need a password first. Without one the button is disabled with “Set a password first, or you would have no way to sign in.” Unlinking asks “Unlink Discord?” and your password keeps working.
- Two-factor still applies. Signing in with Discord asks for your authenticator code if you turned it on.
Things You Cannot Do Yourself
- Delete your account. There is no account deletion in the panel. Write to hello@monoadmin.net and MonoAdmin deletes it for you; the Privacy Policy says what that removes and what is kept. Deleting an account deletes the projects it owns, so hand those to someone first if they should stay.
- Hand a project to someone else. The owner cannot leave a project, and only MonoAdmin staff can transfer ownership. Contact MonoAdmin support at hello@monoadmin.net. Both people are notified.
- Create API keys. Accounts have no tokens or API. The panel is used with your browser session.
