Game World Editor
Place the community service area and its trash pickup spots in the game world with the Game World Editor's gizmo and freecam.
On This Page
The Game World Editor lets you set where community service happens by standing in the game and placing things in it. You choose the center and size of the area players are kept in, and the spots where they pick up trash. It exists only in game: the web panel shows the result under Settings > Game Settings (Community Service Area) but cannot change it.
Before You Start
You need:
- The in-game menu working for you, with your game account linked.
- The Game World Editor permission (“Place the community service area and its trash pickup spots in game”). The default Admin role has it. Moderator and Support do not.
- A resource that supports the editor. If yours is too old, Settings > Game Settings says “Update the MonoAdmin resource on your server to use the Game World Editor.” and the row stays hidden.
Open the menu, go to the Panel tab and choose Game World Editor. The editor fills the screen, with the game world showing through the middle. Closing it with Esc or Close brings you back to the menu.
What You Place
The Community Service Area
The area is a circle. A player serving community service can walk anywhere inside it, and one who leaves is put back. It has two settings:
- Main center coordinate: the middle of the circle.
- Area radius: how far from the center players may go, from 5 to 200 meters.
A new project starts at Legion Square with a radius of 40 meters.
Trash Pickup Points
Pickup points are the spots a player in service walks to and works at. A project can have up to 24. Each is numbered (Pickup 1, Pickup 2 and so on) and can be switched on or off. A switched-off point stays saved but players are not sent to it.
- With two or more points switched on, players are sent to a random one of them, never the same one twice in a row.
- With fewer than two switched on, players get an automatic ring of 8 spots around the center instead, at 60% of the radius and never more than 12 meters out. The editor draws the ring as faint pins so you can see where players will go. Create and switch on more points to use your own.
How a player experiences the service (the marker and the counter) is covered in What Players See, and how it is handed out in Warnings, Mutes and Community Service.
The Editor Screen
- Outliner (left): a tree with Community Service, then Settings (center and radius) and Tasks (Trash pickup points, each point, and a Create row). Rows start closed. Which rows you opened, and the row you selected, are remembered on this computer.
- Properties (right): the fields of the selected row. A row with a problem is marked Needs attention, and so are the groups above it.
- The top bar: the status (“All changes saved” or “{n} unsaved changes”), then Move around, Freecam, Gizmo, Discard, Save and Close.
- The world: a faint disc for the area, a pin at its center, a numbered pin over each pickup point, and faint pins for the automatic ring. The selected row is drawn in the accent color, a switched-off point in grey and a point the cloud would refuse in amber.
Placing Things
Select a row, then use any of these. Coordinates are in meters, to two decimals, and a point’s height is standing height (about one meter above the ground).
Typing and Using Your Position
Each coordinate row has X, Y and Z fields. Paste x, y, z or vector3(x, y, z) into any field to fill all three. Use my position puts the center or point where you stand. Teleport here (it needs the Teleport permission) takes you to the point so you can check it.
Pick in World
Pick in world waits for a click in the game. Click the ground and the selected row moves there. A right click or Esc cancels. For the radius, Pick edge in world sets the radius so the circle reaches the spot you click.
Create and Add by Clicking
Create (in the Pickup list, or the Create row of the tree) adds a new, switched-on point where the middle of your screen meets the ground, or where you stand if there is no ground there. Add by clicking waits for a click instead. Once there are 24 points, both stop with “There are already 24 pickup points. Delete one to add another.”
Move Around, Freecam and Gizmo
These three buttons give you different ways to look around and place things without leaving the editor.
| Control | Key | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Move around | G | Hands the keys back to the game so you can walk, drive or fly. The editor stays on screen, dimmed. Enter places the selected row at the crosshair; G or Esc comes back. |
| Freecam | H | Flies the camera alone (see The Self Tab) and moves around at the same time. It needs the Noclip permission, and the button shows only if you hold it. |
| Gizmo | E | Puts FiveM’s move arrows on the selected center or pickup point. Hold the left mouse button on an arrow and drag. Enter or E when done; Esc or a right click goes back. |
A gizmo is a set of arrows you drag to move something along an axis. It works on the center and on pickup points, not on the radius. Each drag changes only your draft. Under the hood the drag uses FiveM’s own binding, “MonoAdmin: drag the Game World Editor’s gizmo (hold)”, which is on the left mouse button by default and does nothing outside the editor. If you rebind it in FiveM’s key settings, the gizmo follows your binding.
Tree and Keyboard
While the editor has the keyboard:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| Up / Down | Move over the rows |
| Right / Left | Open or close a row, or step into or out of it |
| Enter | Edit the selected row’s fields, or run Create |
| Space | Switch the selected pickup point on or off (each row also has a tick box) |
| G, H, E | Move around, freecam, gizmo |
| Esc | Leave a field, then cancel picking, then close the editor |
While a field has the keyboard, the arrows and letters belong to the field.
Limits and Checks
The editor checks your draft the way MonoAdmin will, and marks a bad row before you save:
- The center must be inside the map, and the radius must be between 5 and 200 meters.
- At most 24 pickup points.
- Every point must be inside the map and at least 3 meters inside the edge of the area, so that walking to it never takes a player out. If you shrink the radius or move the center, the editor warns “{n} pickup points are outside the area or within 3 m of its edge. Move them in, or make the area bigger.” and offers Show the first one.
Press Save with a bad row and nothing is sent: “Fix the marked rows first.” If MonoAdmin refuses values on its side, you get “Some values weren’t accepted. Check the marked rows.”
Save, Discard and Delete
Nothing is saved as you type. Your changes form a draft, and the status shows how many there are.
- Save sends the draft. The change reaches your game server right away, and players who are in service get a task in the new area. You see “World settings saved.”
- Discard asks “Discard {n} changes?” and then puts the area back to how it was last saved. Keep editing cancels.
- Delete this point asks first. The point leaves your draft and is gone for good only when you save, and Discard brings it back.
- Close keeps your draft. Open the editor again and it is still there, until your in-game powers end. Opening the editor with no draft reads the saved settings again.
If someone else saved while you were editing, Save shows “Someone else saved the world settings”. Reload shows their version and loses your changes. Keep editing lets you carry on, and you can try to save again.
Every save is recorded in Audit Logs as “Changed the community service area in game”, with the center, radius and points before and after.
