Phone Scripts (lb-phone)

How MonoAdmin works with lb-phone 2: the character's phone number, Reset Lock for a forgotten PIN, and public posts and calls in Server Logs.

On a server that runs lb-phone, the phone is a script of its own: it keeps its own phone numbers, PINs and Face ID, and its own apps. MonoAdmin works with it in three places. The Character tab shows the number lb-phone uses, a Reset Lock button clears a forgotten PIN, and Server Logs can record public posts and calls. This page covers each, and what is never recorded.

Which Phone Scripts Are Supported

Script Version Number and Reset Lock Phone lines in Server Logs
lb-phone 2 (built against 2.8.4) ESX, QBCore and Qbox with oxmysql Yes, standalone too

No other phone script is recognised. Without lb-phone, the Character tab shows the phone number your framework stores, and there is no Reset Lock button and no Phone log type.

Another major version of lb-phone is detected and shown with a warning, but MonoAdmin does not use it. Its numbers, Reset Lock and phone lines in Server Logs stay off.

The number and Reset Lock are on the Character tab, which needs ESX, QBCore or Qbox with oxmysql. The Phone log type needs only lb-phone, so it also works on a standalone server.

How MonoAdmin Detects It

The resource looks for a started lb-phone and reads the version from its manifest. Detection runs again about a second after lb-phone starts or stops, so you do not need to restart MonoAdmin. You can see the result in three places:

  • the Integrations: line of monoadmin status, which ends with phone lb-phone 2.8.4 or phone none,
  • the guided setup’s What We Found on Your Server screen, in the Phone script row (see The Guided Setup),
  • Settings > Server Link, in the Phone script row.
What you see What it means
The script and its version. The setup screen adds “Phone numbers come from lb-phone, a phone lock can be reset from a character, and public posts and calls reach Server Logs.” lb-phone 2 runs and is supported.
A Not supported yet badge in Server Link, and “{script} is not supported yet. MonoAdmin supports lb-phone 2; its numbers, Reset Lock and phone logs stay off.” lb-phone runs in another major version.
“None found. Works with lb-phone.” in Server Link, “No phone script found, so phone numbers come from your framework.” in the setup lb-phone is not started.

The Phone Number on the Character Tab

On the Identity card of a player’s Character tab (see Characters and Owned Vehicles), Phone Number is read from lb-phone: the number of the phone the character has equipped. lb-phone never writes your framework’s own phone field, so that one goes stale or stays empty. MonoAdmin shows lb-phone’s number instead and never the framework’s, so the number matches the one players dial.

  • It works for a character who is online and for one who is not.
  • A character with no phone has no Phone Number row, and so no Reset Lock button.
  • If lb-phone cannot be reached, the row is empty and the server console prints one warning, rather than showing an old number.

Reset Lock

A player who forgets the PIN of their phone is locked out of it. Reset Lock clears the PIN and the Face ID (the face unlock) of that phone, so the player can set a new lock the next time they open it.

Reset a Phone Lock

  1. Open the player, choose the Character tab, and pick the character.
  2. On the Identity card, press Reset Lock beside the phone number.
  3. The dialog “Reset the Phone Lock of {name}?” says “Clears the PIN and Face ID of phone {number}. Whoever holds this phone can open it until a new lock is set.” Press Reset Lock to confirm.
  4. A toast reads “Reset the phone lock of {name}.”

It works while the character is online or offline, but the game server must be online. If the server cannot do it, the dialog says “The server could not reset the lock. This character may have no phone, or lb-phone may not be running; check its console for the reason.”

The Permission

Reset Lock needs the Reset Phone Lock permission, and the matching feature switch, Character Editing under Settings > Features, must be on. See Features and Modules.

It is a permission of its own so that you can let your support staff help with a forgotten PIN without letting them edit identities and money. When it arrived, every role that already held Edit Character was given it. Roles you make from now on start without it. Change it under Settings > Roles; see Roles and Permissions.

Each reset is recorded in Audit Logs as “Reset a phone lock”, with who did it, and counts as a small piece of player help in Staff Activity and Scoring.

Phone Lines in Server Logs

With lb-phone running, Server Logs has a Phone type. It is on by default, like the other types, and can be switched off under Settings > Features, in the Server Logs module. It records two kinds of line.

Public Posts

A post a player makes in one of lb-phone’s public apps shows as “{player} posted on {app}”, with the text of the post under it.

App What is recorded
Birdy The text of the post and the account that posted it. Posts from private accounts are not logged.
InstaPic The caption and the account.
Trendy The caption and the account.
Pages The listing’s description, its title, its price and the number it shows.
Marketplace The listing’s description, its title, its price and the number it shows.

Only the words are kept. Pictures, videos and links are never logged.

Calls

A call that has ended shows as “{player} called {callee}”, or “{player} got a call from {caller}” when the caller is not a player, for example a script’s call. The details record who called whom or which company, how long the call lasted, whether it was answered and whether it was a video call. A call that nobody answered shows Not answered.

When a call has two players, the line belongs to the caller. Staff see the numbers even when the caller hid theirs from the person they called.

What Is Never Logged

  • Private messages, mail and DarkChat.
  • Pictures, videos, links and other attachments.
  • Posts from private Birdy accounts.
  • Posts a script makes through lb-phone’s exports, because there is no player to name.

Reading and Searching

Phone lines work like the others: filter by the Phone type, or by a player, and open a line for its details, which are App, Account, Title, Price, Post ID, Phone number, Caller number, Number called, Company called, Call length, Answered and Video call, and Placed by a script on a call whose caller was not a player. Search names, text and items also finds an account, a title, a phone number and a company.

The Phone switch shows Needs lb-phone while your server is not running lb-phone. The switch is kept for when it does. A type that is off is not recorded at all, and lines already kept stay until your plan stops keeping them.

Phone lines are sent from your server in small batches, like chat. While the server is not connected to MonoAdmin, they are dropped and not saved for later.

The In-Game Menu and the Phone

The phone can sit open over the screen, and it would then stay on top of the in-game menu. So when staff open the MonoAdmin menu, MonoAdmin closes the phone first. See Turn On and Open the Menu.

Limits

  • lb-phone 2 only. Another major version is detected and shown, but its numbers, Reset Lock and logs stay off.
  • No other phone script is recognised, including one that borrows lb-phone’s name for its exports (sd-phone does): MonoAdmin looks for lb-phone itself.
  • MonoAdmin does not edit phones. It cannot change a number, read messages, or set a PIN. Reset Lock only clears the lock.
  • An online character with no phone equipped shows no number and cannot be reset.
  • Reset Lock needs a character on ESX, QBCore or Qbox with oxmysql; the log lines do not.

For the other scripts MonoAdmin works with, see Supported Frameworks.
