Troubleshooting

Fixes for common problems: link codes that fail, a server that will not connect, missing character data, a menu that will not open and more.

This page lists problems people run into, with what you see, why it happens and what to do. The messages are the ones MonoAdmin prints in your server console or shows in the panel and in game, so you can search this page for the exact text. Console lines are shown without the [ script:monoadmin] prefix that FXServer adds.

Start With monoadmin status

Run this in the server console before anything else:

monoadmin status

The Connection: line says whether the link is up, and Last failure: says why it is not. Together with Framework: and Integrations: they answer most questions. Console and Chat Commands explains every line.

Claiming the Resource and Paying

What you see Why What to do
Our store will not let you add MonoAdmin to the basket Our store (run by Tebex) takes nothing before you sign in with Cfx.re Sign in on the store with the Cfx.re account that owns your server’s key, then claim MonoAdmin. If the account already has it, there is nothing to claim: choose Get MonoAdmin.
You claimed MonoAdmin, but Granted Assets on the Cfx.re portal does not list it You are signed in to the portal with another Cfx.re account than the one you claimed with, or Cfx.re has not delivered it yet Sign in to the portal with the account you claimed with. If it is still missing after a few minutes, write to hello@monoadmin.net.
The checkout over Settings > Plan stays blank Something in the browser blocks pay.tebex.io, such as a privacy extension Allow pay.tebex.io, or try another browser.
“This checkout has expired or was already used. Choose the plan again.” A checkout waits a day for the Cfx.re sign-in, and coming back to the same page a second time does not reopen it In Settings > Plan, choose the plan again. Nothing was charged.

The Resource Will Not Start

What you see Why What to do
FXServer says the resource cannot start because a dependency is not met The server build is older than 12913, or OneSync is off Update the server artifact, and add set onesync on to server.cfg. See Requirements.
FXServer cannot find the resource, or there is no monoadmin started line The folder is not at resources/monoadmin/fxmanifest.lua, the folder has a different name, or ensure monoadmin is missing or misspelt Fix the path and the name, then run refresh and ensure monoadmin. See Install the Resource.
You lack the required entitlement The server’s license key belongs to a different Cfx.re account than the one that claimed MonoAdmin. The resource runs only on servers whose key belongs to the account that claimed it. Use the Cfx.re account that owns the key your server starts with: choose Claim on Our Store (in the setup or Settings > Server Link) and sign in with that account, then download the resource again from Granted Assets and replace the folder. Or transfer MonoAdmin to that account from Granted Assets: once, within 28 days of claiming it. See Install the Resource.
Failed to verify protected resource The hidden .fxap file is not in the monoadmin folder. Some archive tools and file transfer clients skip hidden files. Unzip the download again so that .fxap sits next to fxmanifest.lua. If you upload from another machine, show hidden files and send the whole folder.
syntax error near '<\1>' A copy of the resource’s files is corrupted, for example because an FTP client sent them in text mode, or the server build is outdated. Upload the whole folder again with SFTP or with FTP in binary mode. If the error stays, update the server artifact. See Requirements.
The framework bridge (the Lua part of MonoAdmin) never registered, so framework features are off. Check the console for Lua errors from monoadmin, and for any resource that intercepts MonoAdmin's exports. The Lua half of the resource failed to load, or another resource is intercepting its exports. Often seen together with [monoadmin] could not register the framework bridge; framework features are off Read the console above the line for Lua errors from monoadmin, extract the resource again in case a file is damaged, and stop any resource that overrides exports. Then restart monoadmin.
refused a framework bridge registration from <resource> Another resource tried to take the place of MonoAdmin’s Lua bridge. MonoAdmin refused it Find and fix or remove that resource. MonoAdmin is working as intended.
stored state is unreadable and was ignored, or stored link state is unusable; run "monoadmin link" with a new code The data the resource keeps in the server’s storage was damaged Create a new pairing code and link again. See Link Your Server.
The link was lost after you renamed or moved the folder The link is stored under the resource’s name, monoadmin Name the folder monoadmin again, or link again with a new code.
Files are missing in game after an update, such as a menu that does not load restart monoadmin alone kept the old file list Run refresh, then restart monoadmin. See Update or Remove the Resource.

Linking Fails

What you see Why What to do
Settings > Server Link or Create Pairing Code is missing in the panel Your role lacks Manage Server Link. Only the owner has it unless a role is given it. Ask the owner to add Manage Server Link to your role. Nobody can give a permission they do not hold themselves.
Usage: monoadmin link <code> There is no code, or more than one word after link Copy the whole command from the panel.
That does not look like a pairing code. It is 10 characters, shown as XXXXX-XXXXX in the panel. The code has the wrong length or stray characters Copy it again instead of typing it.
This pairing code is not valid or has expired. Create a new one in the panel. The code was already used, is older than 10 minutes, was replaced by a newer code, or its maker left the project, lost Manage Server Link or secured their account (new password, sign out everywhere) after making it Choose Create Pairing Code again and use the new code at once. Only the newest code works.
Too many attempts. Wait 60 seconds and try again. Too many tries from this address Wait the number of seconds shown.
Could not reach MonoAdmin. Nothing was changed. timeout or network The server could not open an outbound HTTPS connection Allow outbound HTTPS to ws.monoadmin.net, check DNS and any proxy, and try from the server machine.
Could not reach MonoAdmin. Nothing was changed. http 403 MonoAdmin refused the request: the project is suspended, or this server’s address is blocked Open the project in the panel: a suspension explains itself on the project page. Otherwise contact MonoAdmin support at hello@monoadmin.net.
Could not reach MonoAdmin. Nothing was changed. http 503 or another 5xx MonoAdmin was unavailable for a moment Try again in a few minutes.
This server is already linked to My Server. Run monoadmin unlink first. The server already holds a link Run monoadmin unlink, then link with the new code.
monoadmin command refused: it only runs from the server console The line did not come from the console. A player or another resource ran it Run it in the server console or RCON. If it is refused even from txAdmin’s Live Console or the console window, use RCON.
It printed Linked to project X, but the panel still says Not linked You linked a different project than the one you are looking at, or the page has not refreshed Check the project name in the success line, and reload the panel.

The Server Will Not Connect

Run monoadmin status, then find its Connection: and Last failure: lines in the first column.

What monoadmin status shows Why What to do
Connection: reconnecting, Last failure: connection closed (code 1006) or similar The connection dropped, often a network problem. The resource retries by itself, waiting up to 30 seconds between tries. Check the server’s outbound connection. If it does not settle, restart the resource.
Last failure: the cloud answered HTTP 502 (or another 5xx) MonoAdmin was unavailable for a moment Wait. It retries by itself.
Connection: connected, waiting for the cloud to accept this server for a long time The connection is open but MonoAdmin has not accepted the server’s greeting Look at the Last failure: line and the console for the cloud did not accept hello. Update the resource if it is old.
Last failure: the cloud refused this server: <message> MonoAdmin refused the server’s greeting Read the message. If it names the version, update the resource.
Last failure: credential rejected - pair again from the panel MonoAdmin does not accept the stored link, or the project is suspended. The resource tries again every 5 minutes. In the panel, create a new pairing code and link again. If you did not unlink or relink, check whether the project is suspended.
Last failure: credential revoked - run monoadmin unlink, then link with a new code from the panel The link was cancelled in the panel (Unlink Server), or another server was linked in its place If you meant it, nothing to do. Otherwise run monoadmin unlink, then link again with a new code.
Last failure: another server connected with this server's credential - this one will not reconnect A second server is using this server’s link. The console also prints Another server connected with this server's MonoAdmin link. If that wasn't you, link again with a new code (Settings > Server Link). Find the second server (a copy of this one, a test machine). Unlink and link again with a new code on the server that should keep the link. The owner is emailed about this.
Last failure: resource version no longer supported - update This version of the resource is too old to connect. The resource retries every 5 minutes. Update the resource. See Update or Remove the Resource.
Connection: not started right after a start The link waits for framework detection to finish Wait a few seconds and run it again. If it stays, look for framework detection failed in the console.

The panel shows the same thing as Linked, currently offline in Settings > Server Link and Offline on the dashboard. The project owner is emailed when the server has been offline for 5 minutes.

Framework and Data

What you see Why What to do
The server runs a different framework, and the console warns The panel is set to esx but this server runs qbcore. Change the framework in the panel's settings. The framework you chose for the project differs from what runs. A feature is offered only where both agree. Use Open Settings, or Settings > Overview, to correct the framework.
ESX is older than MonoAdmin supports or Qbox is older than MonoAdmin supports, or es_extended reports version <version>; MonoAdmin supports ESX 1.13.5 and later. Money, items and character edits may fail until ESX is updated. or qbx_core reports version <version>; MonoAdmin supports Qbox 1.22.5 and later. Money, items and character edits may fail until Qbox is updated. The ESX version is below 1.13.5, or the Qbox version is below 1.22.5 Update ESX or Qbox. Features are still offered and may fail on the old version.
framework detected framework=standalone on a server that runs ESX, QBCore or Qbox The framework resource was not started when MonoAdmin looked, or has another name Start the framework. Detection runs again by itself about a second after it starts. Check the resource is called es_extended, qb-core or qbx_core.
No Character tab on a player, or no Vehicles page The server has no framework, oxmysql is not started, the project’s framework is set to Standalone, or your role lacks View Character Data or View Owned Vehicles Run monoadmin status and check the database entry in Integrations: is oxmysql. Start oxmysql before MonoAdmin. Check the framework on Supported Frameworks.
No inventory section in the Character tab Editing is not offered for your framework and inventory See the table on Inventory Resources.
Set Job, Give $, Take $ or Give Item is greyed out, with “Not available for this server’s framework or resource version.” Standalone has no framework, or the resource is too old Check Framework: in monoadmin status. Settings > Features shows Not available on Standalone for these.
“This isn’t available for this server’s framework or resource version.” when giving an item on Qbox Qbox gives items through ox_inventory only Run ox_inventory.
Economy and Jobs in Analytics show nothing Standalone servers send no economy or job data They need ESX, QBCore or Qbox.
The Items log type shows Needs ox_inventory Item lines come from ox_inventory only Run ox_inventory on ESX, QBCore or Qbox.
The Phone log type shows Needs lb-phone Phone lines come from lb-phone 2 only Run lb-phone 2. See Phone Scripts.
The Garage script or Phone script row shows Not supported yet The script runs in a major version MonoAdmin does not support: jg-advancedgarages v4, or lb-phone other than 2 jg v4’s vehicles are shown but not changed, and the numbers, Reset Lock and phone lines of another lb-phone stay off. Use jg v3 or lb-phone 2. See Garage Scripts.
No Reset Lock button beside a character’s phone number You lack Reset Phone Lock, Character Editing is off, lb-phone 2 is not running, or the character has no phone equipped Check Settings > Roles and Settings > Features, and the Phone script row. See Phone Scripts.
A vehicle change is refused with “that vehicle is out in the world right now; put it away first” jg-advancedgarages would write the car’s own state back over your change Have the owner put the car away, or delete it from Server Entities. See Garage Scripts.
jg-advancedgarages runs but its columns are missing; run its install SQL jg is started but its install SQL was never run on your database Run jg’s install SQL.

Actions That Fail

Message Why What to do
The game server is offline. The server is not linked or the link is down Check monoadmin status.
That player is no longer online. The player left Refresh the player list.
MonoAdmin doesn’t know this player’s current visit yet. Rejoin the server and try again. The player joined moments ago, or is not tracked because your server is over its plan’s player limit Wait a moment, or have them rejoin.
The server took too long to answer. The action may not have applied. The game server did not confirm in time Check the player’s state before you repeat the action.
The game server tried, but could not do that. Check the server and try again. The action failed in game Read the server console around that time. The panel often gives a reason.
The player cannot carry that much. / The player does not have that many. / Only one of this item fits in a slot. / The player’s inventory has not loaded yet. Try again in a moment. An inventory refusal See Inventory Resources.
A balance cannot go below zero on this server’s framework. ESX never keeps a negative balance Take less.
This server’s framework cannot store true or false here. Use a number or text. An ESX metadata value was true or false Use a number or text.
The character is logging out right now. Try again in a few seconds. The character is being saved as the player leaves Wait and try again.
That player’s game is not connected to MonoAdmin right now, so their screen cannot be shown. The player’s own game has no live connection to MonoAdmin, for example right after joining, or a network that blocks it Wait a minute, or have them rejoin.
The game could not take the picture. Try again in a moment. The screenshot failed Try again.
Screen sharing is switched off for this project. Contact support to have it switched back on. MonoAdmin has switched screen sharing off for your project Contact MonoAdmin support at hello@monoadmin.net.

Mutes and Revive

What you see Why What to do
“This server’s resource can’t mute voice chat.” or “text chat.” The server cannot apply that mute. Text mutes need the default chat resource. See Voice and Text Mutes.
A muted player can still talk Your voice resource may not use FiveM’s built-in Mumble voice Test with two accounts. See Voice and Text Mutes.
Revive does not end the death screen The ambulance script is not supported, the setting is None, the chosen script is not running, or, with Custom, your code does not end the script’s own state Check Settings > Advanced and the console. See Revive and Ambulance Scripts.
the ambulance script chosen in the panel is not running; the player was revived without it You picked a script by name but it is not started Start the script, or choose Auto-detect.
“Your custom revive code ran into an error. The game server’s console shows what went wrong.” With Custom, the code did not compile or raised an error when it ran Read the Lua error in the server console, fix the code under Settings > Advanced and revive again. See Revive and Ambulance Scripts.
A Custom revive says the game server did not confirm in time The code ran, but the player was not alive (health above 100) within 3 seconds, or the code waits too long Make the code bring the player back, usually through your ambulance script’s own revive event or export, and keep any wait short. See Revive and Ambulance Scripts.

The In-Game Menu

What you see Why What to do
Pressing the menu key does nothing No menu key is set (the default), or the in-game menu is off, or you are not recognised as staff, or you pressed it while typing in chat or with the pause menu open Set a key under Settings > Features, and try /madmin. The key works for staff only. F8 and F12 cannot be used.
You’re not recognised as staff here. Link this game account with /madmin link and the code from the web panel. Your game account is not linked Get a code under Settings > My Membership and type /madmin link with it.
This game account is linked to more than one staff member. Ask the server owner to fix the links in the web panel. Two members share one game account Link the account again from the right member’s own panel under Settings > My Membership, or ask the owner to fix the links under Settings > Members.
Your role can’t use the in-game menu. Ask the server owner for the In-game menu permission. The role lacks Open the In-Game Menu A role manager adds it in Settings > Roles.
The in-game menu is switched off for this server. The owner can switch it on in the web panel’s settings. Only the owner can turn it on The owner turns on In-Game Menu under Settings > Features.
This server’s MonoAdmin resource can’t run the in-game menu. Update the resource. The resource is too old Update it.
MonoAdmin can’t be reached right now. Try again in a moment. The link is down See The Server Will Not Connect.
The project is over its plan’s player limit, so most actions are paused until fewer players are online. More players are online than your plan allows See below.
Your MonoAdmin staff access in game has ended. Your role changed, you were removed, the menu was switched off, or the cloud has been unreachable for over a minute Reopen the menu. If it keeps happening, check the link. The console logs the cloud is still unreachable; in-game staff powers end.
This game account has no Rockstar license MonoAdmin can verify The account has no Rockstar license that the server vouches for. Rejoin and try again.
Your visit isn’t known to MonoAdmin yet, when linking You joined moments ago, or you are not tracked because of the player limit Wait, or rejoin.

Player Reports

What you see Why What to do
Another script uses /report under Player Reports, or in the console /report is also a command of qs-reports. In the panel, Settings > Features lets you pick another report command, or you can turn that resource off. MonoAdmin found another resource that registers the report command, on the server or in players’ games. Players typing it may get that script instead of MonoAdmin. Which one answers has not been checked on a real server. In Settings > Features, choose one of the three ways out: Use Another Command, stop the other script (remove its ensure line from server.cfg and restart, or stop <resource> in the server console for now), or, as the owner, Turn Off MonoAdmin’s Player Reports. The warning goes away by itself once the script has stopped. See Features and Modules.
The warning comes back after you restarted the server stop <resource> in the console only lasts until the next restart, and the resource’s ensure line starts it again Remove the resource’s ensure line from server.cfg, or use Use Another Command instead.
Players type the report command and nothing happens Player Reports or Reports System is off, or the owner renamed the command and they typed the old name. Players already in the server keep the old name until they rejoin, and typing it does nothing. Check both switches under Settings > Features, and tell players the name in the Report Command box.
The Report Command box says “Use 2 to 32 characters: lowercase letters, numbers and underscores, starting with a letter.” or “MonoAdmin or FiveM already uses that name. Pick another one.” The name breaks the rules, or is one MonoAdmin or FiveM keeps for itself, such as quit or madmin Pick another name. The rules and the reserved names are on Features and Modules.

Bans and Joining

What you see Why What to do
A banned player joined The ban is not sticky and they used another account. Or the ban expired or was revoked. Or the ban was made in txAdmin and has not been imported yet, or was added in txAdmin after the last import. Open the player’s Punishments and Linked tabs. Reissue the ban as sticky if needed, or import txAdmin’s backup again. See Sticky Bans and Move From txAdmin.
Punishments: not synchronised yet The server has not received its list of bans yet Check the link. Once it connects, the list downloads.
Players are refused with “This server cannot check your access right now. Please try again in a few minutes.” Fail-closed is on, and MonoAdmin cannot be reached Restore the link. Or turn off Block joins while MonoAdmin is unreachable under Settings > Game Settings. Staff are also kept out while it is on.
A player is not on the player list while online Your server is over its plan’s player limit and they are beyond it They still play, but are untracked. See Plans and Limits.

The Whitelist

What you see Why What to do
Everyone, staff too, is refused with “This server can’t check its whitelist right now. Please try again in a minute.” The whitelist is on and the server could not get an answer from MonoAdmin in time, or its link is down. In a Discord mode, Discord could not be asked. The whitelist keeps players out when it cannot check, whatever Block joins while MonoAdmin is unreachable says. Restore the link: see The Server Will Not Connect. In a Discord mode, read the problem shown on the Whitelist page. See Whitelist.
A staff member reads “This server is open to its staff only right now.” or “You are not on this server’s whitelist.” Their game account is not linked, so MonoAdmin does not recognise them as staff. They get a code under Settings > My Membership and type /madmin link with it. The Whitelist page names the members who have not linked.
Discord members are refused Their game does not report a Discord account, they are not in your Discord server or lack the role, or the Whitelist page shows a Discord problem (the module is off, no server is connected, or your own bot is paused). Read the message they got. For a missing Discord account, they open Discord on that computer, restart FiveM and connect again. A change of membership or role can take up to a minute to count.
Players on the approved list are still refused, with a message that is not MonoAdmin’s txAdmin’s own allowlist is on too, so they must pass both. In txAdmin open Settings > Allowlist and set Allowlist Mode to External Allowlist Resource or Disabled.
The whitelist is on but players who are not on the list get in The resource is too old to check the whitelist, so it lets everyone in who is not banned. Update the resource. The Whitelist page warns when this is the case.

Plan Limits and Locked Pages

What you see Why What to do
More players are online than your plan allows More players are online than your plan covers. Only the dashboard, billing and settings stay open. Your server keeps running and nothing is lost. Wait for the count to drop, or the owner upgrades. See When a Plan Ends or Runs Over.
Your plan’s limit has been reached. Upgrade to add more. You hit a limit such as roles or seats See Plans and Limits.
Your role doesn’t include that page. Your role lacks the permission Ask a role manager. See Roles and Permissions.
That page isn’t available for this server’s framework. The framework cannot do it See Supported Frameworks.
That page is turned off for this project. It can be turned back on in Settings > Features. A feature switch is off Turn it on under Settings > Features.
MonoAdmin has suspended this project, so it cannot be used right now. The project page says why. MonoAdmin suspended the project Read the reason on the project page, or contact support at hello@monoadmin.net.

Still Stuck

Collect the output of monoadmin status and the MonoAdmin lines from your server console, and contact MonoAdmin support at hello@monoadmin.net with them, or ask in our Discord at monoadmin.net/discord. The console never prints your link credential or pairing codes, so it is safe to share.
